K-5Students in kindergarten through fifth grade need to be given the basic tools so that they can be successful in their future education. In the early grades, the focus is on reading and math. As the students move up, additional time is spent on broadening their educational opportunities. Zeeland's curriculum is current, focuses on time-tested techniques and philosophies in all subject areas. Discipline in the elementary grades is based on a biblical model. Students are asked to respect those in authority over them and the teachers go out of their way to develop positive relationships with the students so discipline is rarely needed. If students do make a bad choice, both the teacher and the students work out an appropriate consequence so that the behavior is changed or eliminated. Faith StoryMr. Sneller, Second Grade"Jesus was a friend to little children. The image of Jesus telling His disciples to let the children come to him is a beautiful one. He took the time away from His busy life to spend time with children in a time when children were not appreciated very much. Jesus shows us the importance of children in the kingdom of God. I want to use Jesus? example each day as I teach my students.
