"I have my BA in Elementary education with a focus in math, science, and Spanish from Calvin College.
My MA is from the University of Minnesota and is in Dual Language and Immersion Education.
I have taught as an immersion teacher in Jerusalem, Israel/Palestine and have worked in various schools in Michigan and Iowa."
What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
"Walking through the hallways and hearing various languages from both students and teachers is motivating. I truly appreciate how interacting with teachers from many different countries adds to the richness of the education offered by Zeeland Christian. There is a distinct open-mindedness and willingness to think outside the box so that the needs of each individual student can be met."
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
"The Christian school environment gives students and teachers the opportunity to explore their developing faith together; thus, allowing everyone to ask authentic questions and evaluate the learning through the lens of Christianity. The partnerships formed between home, school, and church help to nurture children in a holistic and consistent manner. "
What do you want others to know about you?
"My husband and I have four children ranging in age from high school to lower elementary. His positions as a pastor and professor have given us the opportunity to live in Jerusalem, Mexico, Iowa, and West Michigan. Traveling and exploring the world has always been a passion of ours. I believe that interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures continues to enrich the way in which I view my Lord and my faith. In my spare time, I absolutely love spending time with family, my church, and doing Crossfit."
One life lesson your students have taught you:
"Life is full of surprises; embracing them with a positive attitude makes all the difference."
