What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
I love the community of children and teachers from different walks of life, different cultures, with different stories. I love that ZCS is trying intentionally to look more and more like a sampling of the Kingdom. We do it imperfectly, but we are looking to Christ to help us do it faithfully.
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
Much of our world is broken, but we believe that it belongs to God, and He will not give up a millimeter of it to the evil one. We teach and believe that God is redeeming and renewing all things, and we teach our children that we are a part of God's renewal story. We teach them to participate with God in restoring His good creation.
What do you want others to know about you?
Married over 25 years; two boys, two girls; I love singing, playing piano, creating worship, teaching children to sing; I enjoy reading, riding tandem bikes with my husband, speaking Spanish, baking. I grew up knowing Christ. Lived 7 years in Puerto Rico.
One life lesson your students have taught you:
I was teaching a springtime lesson in comparing seeds, cocoons, and the tomb where Jesus was laid. One little boy raised his hand and said: "The life is hidden inside." I was teaching the lesson but he got it right away! It brought tears to my eyes.
