What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
I love teaching at ZCS because we have our priorities straight: God, students, and learning. I love that we are encouraged in our faith walk, we are encouraged to build relationships with our students so we can help them develop their God-given talents, and we are encouraged to continue to be learners ourselves.
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
I grew up attending a Christian school but didn't realize until later what a gift that was. My years at Holland Christian helped to shape me and grow my faith in Jesus Christ. I love that I can teach Christ in all subject areas and share my faith, the hills and the valleys, with my students.
What do you want others to know about you?
I publicly professed my faith in high school but knew and believed that I was God's child as far back as I can remember. I'm so thankful for my parents and their guidance and prayers throughout my life, as well as the support of my extended family, our church, and my school. My husband and I enjoy raising our two sons and pray they will continue to grow in their walk with Christ. They are a blessing! As a family, we enjoy being outdoors. We like to camp, take walks/hikes and work on projects around the house. I love to read, and my students could tell you that my favorite sport is volleyball because it works its way into many teachable moments in my classroom.
One life lesson your students have taught you:
Teaching can be a very humbling experience. I've learned to swallow my pride, admit my mistakes and not be surprised when an exciting lesson falls flat or a student tells you they liked your hair better before it was cut. 😉
