What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
I love how curious, loving and fun our students are when it comes to life and learning. It is such a blessing to be in an environment where both educators and students want to learn more about God, each other and subject materials. The accountability through questions, storytelling and shared experiences definitely make ZCS a special place.
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
A Christian Education allows us the freedom (with our voice and actions) to acknowledge and "give credit where it's due" because God is everywhere and in everything.
What do you want others to know about you?
I am the youngest of four sisters and the daughter of my incredibly loving parents. My sisters and I would travel to Cuernavaca, Morelos to spend and live our summers with our family there. Between that annual visit to Mexico, growing up in a Spanish congregation, and my parents sharing their Mexican culture and identities with us I have had the blessing to be rooted, struggle, thrive and enjoy two cultures. Having recently married my best friend I have the joy to share my identity of two cultures, love of God, and hobbies such as running, hiking, cooking, yard work, gardening, playing (any sport really), reading and more. Coming from California the adjustment of moving to Michigan was a challenge and I'm so thankful that God has provided such loving relationships and communities, one of them being the students in the classroom and ZCS in general!
One life lesson your students have taught you:
The Lord says to have childlike faith; the curiosity and the unconditional love that children exemplify is a lesson that they teach me on a daily basis and continues to humble me.
