What do you love about Zeeland Christian?

I love building relationships with students and also working closely with parents. It is such a privilege to get to know students and their families over multiple years when students are in the SHC program throughout their elementary years. I love being able to see learning come alive for kids! It is a joy to see their love for Jesus grow and their faith mature.

Why are you passionate about Christian Education?

I am passionate about fostering a love of learning for kids, but even more than that, helping kids see God and his world through the lens of scripture. It is a privilege to be used by God to cultivate in students a growing love for God and his world and to give students opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus with their peers, at school, or in the community.

What do you want others to know about you?

My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary this year! We have three children who are all attending college, each in a different state! Family time is important to us and when we are together, we love to spend time together camping, or up north hiking, or enjoying a backyard bonfire or a board game together. I enjoy being outside doing yard work, taking walks and reading. I am reminded of God's perfect plan for each of our lives when I look back at my teaching career and how God used my Christian school and public school teaching experience as well as my homeschooling experience with our own kids to equip me for the role as teacher and coordinator in the School/Home program. Proverbs 3:5-6 has been such a significant verse for me while at ZCS, completely trusting the Lord will direct our paths and seeing how his plan continues to unfold.

One life lesson your students have taught you:

My students have taught me many lessons about seeing God with a heart of awe and wonder about his creation, whether during devotions or during a lesson in bible or science. Even more, they have taught me about selfless love for others. They serve others with a genuine heart for helping and work hard together, the older helping the younger and even sometimes the younger helping the older!
