What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
Zeeland Christian offers education for everyone. I love the choices parents have for their children and the fact that everyone is included and loved. I love that our goal is to teach kids that Jesus loves them.
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
I feel that Christian education is especially important as students are not only taught to love the Lord but that they are shown how to love the Lord. Students are encouraged and taught to look for God in their own lives and in the world around them. They are also encouraged and given an opportunity to share God's love with the world around them.
What do you want others to know about you?
I am a graduate of Hope College with a Masters in Early Childhood Education from GVSU. I enjoy taking classes and learning about what's happening in education. I have been teaching in the preschool program for more than 20 years and enjoy spending my days with kids who are excited to learn.
I grew up in the Zeeland area, attended Christian School and married my high school sweetheart. We have three children, one married giving us a daughter in law and we are looking forward to our first grandchild this winter. I enjoy every minute I have with family and am so thankful every day for each of them. We enjoy our summers at Sandy Pines, and besides family, I enjoy travel, softball, and volleyball.
As time goes on, my faith continues to grow as more and more I am reminded that God is in control. I work hard to trust God's plan in my own life and with my family. As my kids drive off in their own cars, as the date and look toward future careers, I give advice, pray for them, and then trust God to guide them. I am amazed as I look around and see diversity and know that God has given each person special gifts and purpose. The amazing staff, parents, and students at Zeeland Christian are a daily reminder of the diversity and gifts that God provides. I believe that God uses the people around us and their gifts to show us He loves us. I am thankful every day for the people God has put in my life.
One life lesson your students have taught you:
Every day in preschool I am reminded how amazing our God is as these curious young students learn about their world. It's a daily reminder to appreciate the little things such as mud puddles, shadows, and butterflies.
