What do you love about Zeeland Christian?
One of the greatest benefits of teaching at ZCS is that I can find new ways to share my faith, my culture, and my language with others around me. It is a joy to see young minds excited about learning to speak, read, and understand new cultures. I am humbled to be a part of ZCS which has been the leader in Spanish Immersion for the last 12 years.
Why are you passionate about Christian Education?
It is a blessing to be able to influence my students’ lives and partner with parents knowing and using God’s truths in my teaching. Children become adults so quickly and the opportunity we have to equip them to stand against the enemy of our faith is priceless.
What do you want others to know about you?
I believe in God, my Father, in His Son, Jesus Christ, my Savior; and in the Holy Spirit, my Counselor. I believe that salvation by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ is available to all as a free gift apart from works. I believe my behavior should positively impact others for the ultimate purpose of drawing them to Christ. I believe all people are made in the image of God with a unique purpose and have specific gifts and talents.
One life lesson your students have taught you:
Be brave and never ever give up! Galatians 6:9 And let us never grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. One of my students tried the monkey bars one time during the first week of school. She fell off and seriously hurt herself. Later we talked about a few techniques she could have used to make it across and prevent injury. She was determined to try again the next day and subsequent days after that. There was a point where I thought she would give up and try something different, but no, she was determined, even after getting hurt every day. The way she looked at me when she was able to go across the monkey bars will forever be treasured in my heart. I look at this experience as God teaching me one more time that I should never give up!
