Meet Maestra Capestany

Ruth Capestany is joining ZCS as a Spanish Immersion kindergarten teacher, bringing with her a deep love for Jesus, children, and the Spanish language.

Originally from Panama, Ruth felt God calling her to follow Him and share His love from a young age. After earning a degree in special education and teaching in Panama, she joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Her work took her to El Salvador, Colombia, and Spain, where God strengthened her calling to be “a teacher to the nations.”

While serving in Spain, Ruth met her husband, David, who is from West Michigan. They have been married for 21 years and have three children: Annalise, a ZCS graduate and freshman at Cornerstone University; Joshua, a ZCS graduate and junior at Holland Christian; and Daniel, an eighth grader who will graduate from ZCS this coming year.

Outside the classroom, Ruth enjoys hiking, visiting the beach, skiing, traveling, cooking for family and friends, and spending time reading the Bible and journaling.

Ruth is especially excited to introduce her kindergarten students to the Spanish language and her culture.

“Giving a child the gift of learning another language and becoming fluent is one of the greatest gifts they can receive,” she shared. “I am excited to be part of their journey as they begin learning Spanish.”

In her classroom, Ruth hopes every child feels safe, loved, respected, and inspired to grow. Most importantly, she wants students to experience God’s love and discover the unique gifts and purpose He has given them.

Of ZCS’s three core values, Faithfully All-In connects most deeply with Ruth. She approaches every opportunity with commitment and care, seeking to work wholeheartedly for the Lord.

We are grateful God has called Ruth to this new role and cannot wait to see the Deep Joy, learning, and love she brings to our youngest Spanish Immersion students.

Welcome (back) to ZCS, Maestra Capestany!
